 The mushroom products are the
specialty that Wufeng is most proud of. You can various kinds
of mushrooms, especially flammunina velutipes and mushrooms
in top quality.
Wufeng is the largest grower of mushrooms with miscellaneous
edible mushrooms such as yang mushroom, flammunina velutipes,
pleurotus eryngii, fungus, pleurotus geesteranus and tree fungus
The flammunina velutipes not only has quality of international
level but also in the largest growing area in the world. Therefore,
Wufeng people proudly call here the home town of flammunina
velutipes in Taiwan and built the first mushroom museum of educational
values in Taiwan.
The Museum is on the sixth floor of Wufeng Town Farmersˇ¦ Association
for around 300 pings (990 square meters). National Museum of
Natural Science and Food Industry Research and Development Institute
provided part of valuable information with the consultation
provided by academic institutes, which enrich the exhibition
in an amusing way. Upon entering the gate of the Museum, you
see a mushroom model taller than a person and it is just like
entering a world of mushroom fantasy. In the museum, the types,
ecological systems, growing techniques, growth process, wild
and poisonous mushrooms are introduced as well as showing you
how to cook mushrooms with taste and nutrition so that you can
have a better understanding to the world of mushrooms.
One thing more particular is ˇ§The World of Mushrooms under Microscopes.ˇ¨
The spores are enlarged to around 700 thousand times by electronic
microscopes in shapes of square, round or thorns in different
colors and one can see how mushrooms breed the next generations. |
