The bodily form is like an Elopidae and is spindle-like. The head is big and round, the mouth is short and blunt with no cirrus. The mouth is big and the mouth-crack could reach the bottom of the eyes. The body is covered with big and round scales with a perfect siding. The dorsal fin is smaller than the anal fin, and the fin slice is silk-like. There is no fin-sheath both on the fin-slice and the base of the anal fin. The ventral fin is on the belly part, and the tail is tip-shaped. There is no obvious spots on the body. The ends of the mouth and the backside are slate-gray; the belly is silver. All the fins are light yellow. The edges of the dorsal fin and the caudal fin are gray. The end of the pectoral fin are spread with little black dots. The length of a ripe fish could be more than one meter.
Habitual Behavior ˇG They are fresh-water fish like swimming in warm water area. They always lived in Epipelagic and Mesopelagic Divisions. They usually stay at the area of the river mouth, but sometimes they will go up the river for foraging. They are carnivorous and they like to eat little fish and shrimp. The young fish must pass the abnormal process during their growing period which is called ˇ§Thin Head and Panhandleˇ¨
Distribution ˇG It distributes at the water area of Wu Stream (the trunk stream and the river mouth of lower reaches). It's a Protozoa in Taiwan . |
