 Appearance ˇG The tail is longer than the body. The mouth and the legs are bloody-red, the head, the neck and the chest are black. The other parts are bright blue. The end of the two longest tail are white, others are black and white sequentially.
Habitual Behavior ˇG They like fly and stay in group. People could see three or five of them act in the middle and upper part of the wide forest. If it is not necessary, they usually don't fly with a long distance. While they are flying in a short distance, they will slide down from the top in sequence and compose a beautiful rank. People call them ˇ§ Formosan Blue Magpie ˇ§ They are polyphagous and they like to eat fruits, amphibian, insects, malaco, birds and even slough. They are noisy and excited. They like to build the bowl nest with twigs on the branch of the high tree. They lay three to six eggs once and feed the young birds together by the same kinship. This is called ˇ§Assistant Systemˇ¨. When the nest is destroyed, they will construct another one soon; besides, they get used to build the nest at the same area or even at the same tree.
Distribution ˇG It distributes at the broadleaf forest or secondary forests below the height of 1500 meters; it could also be seen at Guguan and Deji in Zhong-Heng. |
