Thanks to the mild climate and proper temperature and moisture in Wufeng Town, this is a place for the growth of mushrooms with various kinds available—Jin Zhen Mushroom, pleurotous ostreatus, pleurotous eryngii, black fungus and snow fungus. Nanliu Village is the major place in Wufeng Town where mushrooms grow. Its output of is 56% of that of all Taiwan, 2% of mushroom with 0.04% of other fungus. The mushroom growers now mostly pack in jumbo bags and the roots are mostly developed by the growers themselves with few bought from the fungus vendors. Therefore, the output in Nanliu Village increases significantly with more stable quality, hence the name “Hometown of Mushrooms.”
