Geographical location:

Wufeng Town locates in the eastern part of Taichung Basin in Central Taiwan with Dali Town and Taiping Town on the north, Guoxing Town of Nantou County on the east, Wuri Town on the west and Caotun Township on the west. The total square measure is 98.0778 square kilometers, ranking number 4 in Taichung County.

There are currently twenty villages: Jiayin, Jifeng, Bentang, Jinrong, Benxiang, Laiyuan, Sid, Wufu, Liugu, Nanliu, Beiliu, Dingtai, Beishi, Nanshi, Jiuzheng, Wanfeng, Kengko, Fenggu and Tonglin. It measures around 14.83633 kilometer from the east to the west and 8.83600 kilometers between the north and the south.

Introduction to the characteristics

The Taiwan Provincial Consultative Council (TPCC) is the highest institute of public opinions in Taiwan Province. TPCC is the place to be passed by on Zhong Tan Road looking far into the high green coconut trees and waving National Flag. The Council Hall and Representative Hall locate on the circle and the lawn. Entering the gate of TPCC, you will see the giant coconut trees on the two sides protecting TPCC. On the left is the grass and plants with a fountain in the middle where children love to play.

Going straight, the Council Hall, a two-story building, is there with two stone lions holding each other, bringing the atmosphere of solemnity.

The Lin¡¦s Old House and the Garden take up six hectares, which is divided into the Upper House, Lower House and the Garden. The entrance of Jinxun Hall is a two-story gatehouse with Xuan Pavilion in front. A half-moon shape lake lies in front of Rongjing Room with oblique interlocked bricks on the outer walls. Gong Bao Di is the largest official mansion left from Qing Dynasty, a four-section compound with woodbrackets and beams of particular styles. Lai Yuan, Mu Mian Bridge, Wu Guei Floor, Litchi Dao, Fei Shang Zui Yue Floor. Xiao Zi Pond, Ancestral Grave of the Lin¡¦s and She Nian Ti Ming Record has been accredited as Class 2 Ancient Spots by Ministry of Interior. The carved and painted beams are antique, being the main building in the early history of architecture with reference value in the science of history.

History

Wufeng Town used to be called A Zhao Wu, which refers to the current areas of Zhogzheng, Jinrong, Laiyuan and Benxiang in a narrower sense. It locates among the foot of Fong Mountain in Pitou Mountain on the east of Taichung Basin, Caohu Stream and Wu Stream. The east in the Town is the hills of Dahengpin Mountain foot while the west is the flats at the height between 50-60 meters.The Town used to be occupied by Ataabu, the local aborigines. After the entry of Han people, the Town was called A Zhao Wu due to the heavy fog in the Town. The origin o the name seems to be related to the translation by the sound of Ataabu.
