about us

Since 1988, we have been hosting “Art Inheritance: The Relay Show of the Local Artists in Taichung County”. We focus on bringing local artists in each county to light and have published more than a hundred art anthologies in order to preserve local culture.

Since 1991, we have been hosting the competition of “Painting Our Hometown”. By means of scholarship, we encourage the art students in this county to apply their knowledge into practice, create artistic representations for the historical remains in this county, discover and provide training for the talented artists, and enrich the collections this center houses.

In order to balance rural and urban development and provide the residents fine quality recreations, we hosted a series of “Homecoming Art Show” activities.

Incorporating the traditional and the contemporary, the fine arts and the pop arts, every year we select local as well as international musical, theatrical, dancing and folk art activities along with courses and workshops to promote art in general.

Sine 1992, we have been collecting and compiling the folk literature works in Taichung. Up to now, we have published eight anthologies of the folk literature in Taichung, including Hakka songs, Taiwanese songs, proverbs, riddles, stories and so forth.

In order to promote local culture, we have been making serious efforts at compiling, studying and publishing historical anthologies since 1985, including 152 subjects ranging from history, geography, art, music, to literature, and so forth.

In order to enhance the residents’ ability to appreciate artworks, every year we set plans on displays and exhibitions. Docents (art guides) are available for booking in advance to strengthen the culture center’s function in public education.

In order to preserve local culture and enrich the museum’s collections, we (1) collect local creative artworks (2) collect folk objects (3) collect unique folk handcrafts or artifacts (4) collect historical documentary materials.

In order to promote and strengthen the function of the Textiles Gallery, we change the displays and collections of world textiles semi-annually and organize knitting and weaving courses on Chinese knots, needlework, grass weaving, and bamboo weaving.

Integrating and utilizing social resources, we call for volunteers to assist us with various activities hosted by this center.

We run a family education service center to help the public with their domestic difficulties.
